Hambledon is one of England’s oldest vineyards and also one of the most ambitious too. They’re taking on Champagne with a simple range of three wines, keenly priced and offering great quality.
This video is our full producer profile. You’ll meet Ian Kellett, their gregarious owner, who’ll tell you all about how he’s aiming to beat the French at their own game. We’ll also share some snippets of the tour with Katrina Smith, their Wine and Education Manager. Between them, they’ll talk us through their history, the influence of Winston Churchill and Pol Roger, their approach to winemaking, and some seriously impressive expansion plans.
We’re really looking forward to watching Hambledon as they seek to grow from 100,000 bottles now to 1,000,000 over the next decade or so. If you get the chance to visit, we can heartily recommend the tour and tasting. They’re a lovely bunch too – and Ian says it’s always sunny!
